A notation from the Naval Squadrons stationed in Korea.
My Dad served with the Naval Reserve Patrol Squadron VP 772 at Atsugi and Iwakuni in 1951. It shows that the tail numbers for the reserve squadrons is unknown. VP772 had the tail number of BH at that time. He served as a tail gunner on the Consolidated PB4Y2 aircraft. After August 51, they were stationed at Barbers Pt, HI, to train new aircrews.

Currently reading Breakout: the Chosin Reservoir Campaign by Martin Russ. I came across this site while looking for photos and maps. The book, while an excellent account of the campaign, is light on supporting material to aid my mental picture of events. I am in awe of the brave men who succeeded against overwhelming odds. I've always respected Marines, but this shines a new light on their tenacity and courage.

On this Memorial Day 2021, God Bless all our service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice, and bless their families who suffered those losses. I pray our country can hold to its values against the destructive forces at work.
And, get manufacturing back from China, our kids need work.

My father, Luis Rascon, was in a riffle platoon during the Korean War. Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, First Marine Division (2nd platoon, I believe). His time in Korea was from August - December, 1950.

He may have been a Sgt. or platoon leader. He made it to the Chosin Reservoir battle. He was injured and suffered frostbite.

My father has since passed away. I know he was very proud of his time in the war along with the incredibly brave and determined Marines who fought along side him.

(I ordered his records through the National Personnel Records Center in March 2020 but haven’t received anything back yet. Maybe they are backed up due to the pandemic?)

Thank you, to all the service men and woman.

Please feel free to reach out.

Christina Rascon
